Tara Bailey
Director
Tara Bailey, a dedicated advocate for government transparency and civic engagement, has been at the helm of The Alabama Channel since its inception. With a deep-seated commitment to fostering a more informed citizenry, Tara's leadership has propelled the organization to new heights. Her expertise and passion for promoting accountability in government has earned her the prestigious Transparency in Government Award from the League of Women Voters of Alabama (LWVAL) which recognizes efforts to bring greater transparency to governmental decision-making in Alabama at any political level.
Before her role at The Alabama Channel, Tara distinguished herself as a community organizer having started the nonprofit I Vote Madison, leveraging her skills to effect positive change in her community. Her tireless dedication to improving government accountability and civic participation serves as a testament to her unwavering commitment to public service. As Director of The Alabama Channel, Tara continues to lead by example, empowering citizens to actively engage in the democratic process and shape the future of Alabama.
Tara earned a BS degree in graphic design from West Liberty State College in West Virginia, where she was actively engaged as a member of Democracy Matters and served as a student leader in her college's tobacco coalition, showcasing her commitment to civic involvement and advocacy.
Maya Cox

Maya Cox is a junior at Alabama State University, originally from Nashville, Tennessee. She is pursuing a degree in Communications with a concentration in Journalism. Maya's passion for the media industry is evident in her desire to share important and engaging information with the world. With a commitment to delivering impactful stories, Maya aspires to make a lasting contribution to the field of journalism and beyond.

Kailyn Shepard

Introducing Kailyn Shepard, a proud native of Selma, AL, currently pursuing a major in Political Science with a minor in Legal Studies at Alabama State University. Having graduated from Selma High School, Kailyn draws inspiration from her upbringing and community to fuel her passion for Law & Political Studies. Beyond her academic pursuits, Kailyn finds joy in reading, indulging in self-care activities, and exploring new destinations through travel adventures.
Jasmine Snell

Introducing Jasmine Snell, a 22-year-old senior communications major with a concentration in radio/TV. Jasmine is from Suggsville, AL. She is working towards her Liberal Arts and Sciences bachelor’s degree from Alabama State University and is set to graduate in December of 2024. Jasmine aspires to become an entertainment news reporter.
